Description

Folio: 147v. Bedfordshire. Writ.

First party: Edward II.

Second party: John Walewayn [Walwayn], escheator this side of the Trent.

Place or subject: The enrolment of a certain writ of Edward II, enrolled in the rolls of his Chancery in the tenth year of his reign. The king took the fealty of William le Latymer [Latimer], son and heir of Alice, formerly the wife of William le Latymer, deceased, concerning all the lands and tenements which Alice, his mother, held of the king in chief on the day he died, and the king handed over those lands and tenements to him. Master John Walewayn, the escheator on this side of the Trent, is ordered that, once he has accepted security from William for paying his reasonable relief to the king at the Exchequer, he is to cause William to have full seisin of all such lands and tenements, and of which Alice, his mother, was seised in her demesne.
