Folio: 146v. Bedfordshire. Inquisition.
Place or subject: Inquisition taken before the escheator by pretext of that writ and returned into the Chancery. The jurors say upon their oath that Alice la Latymere held the manor of Sutton with the hamlets of Potton, Holm [Holme] and Stratton, which are held of the king in chief from the gift of John de Kynardeseye, clerk, lately by licence of the king for the term of her life Alice only. After her death the manor is to remain to Nicholas le Latymer and his heirs in tail. If Nicholas dies without heirs in tail, then after their deaths, the manor is to remain to Thomas, earl of Lancaster, and his heirs. They say that the manor is held of the king in chief as of the honor of Huntyngdon [Huntingdon], being in the king's hands, by forfeiture of Robert de Brus by the service of a moiety of one knight's fee.
