Place or subject: Writ close made by Edward I to Walter de Gloucestre, his escheator on this side of the Trent. Because the king has heard by an inquisition, which he caused to be made, that William le Latymer the elder, deceased, and Alice, his wife, held jointly of the king on the day of William's death a moiety of the vill of Corby with the hundred of Corby and a certain portion in Carleton [East Carlton], Northants, of the inheritance of the same Alice by the service of 100s, to be paid to the king at his Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff of that county for the time being, the king has taken the fealty of the same Alice for that moiety, hundred and portion. The king commands his escheator to deliver without delay that moiety, hundred and portion, which by reason of the death of William, her late husband, he took into the king's hands, to Alice, together with the issues thereof from the time they had been taken into the king's hands without.
