Folios: 141v-142. Bedfordshire. Writ.
First party: Edward I.
Second party: Henry de Bray, escheator on this side of the Trent.
Place or subject: The enrolment of a certain writ of Edward I in the rolls of his Chancery. The king took the homage of Christiana, fornerly wife of John le Latymer [Latimer], deceased, another of the heirs of Henry de Braibrok [Braybrooke] and Christiana Ledet, deceased, from a moiety of the all the lands and tenements which Henry and Christiana held of Henry III in chief on the days on which they died, and he handed that moiety over to the same Christiana la Latymer, saving the right of anyone. Therefore it is ordered to Henry de Bray, escheator on this side of the Trent, that he causes Christiana la Latymer to have full seisin, just as is the custom, of that moiety and of a moiety of all the lands and tenements which fall to her by the death of Christiana Ledet by right of inheritance in his bailiwick, and which by reason of Christiana's death were taken into the hands of the king. Provided that William le Latymer and Alice, his wife, the other of the heirs of Henry and Christiana Ledet, do their homage to the king for the other moiety of the lands and tenements which Henry and Christiana held of the king in chief on the days on which they died, and then they are to have seisin of the other moiety of the lands and tenements which fall to Alice by death of Christiana Ledet by right of inheritance in his bailiwick, and which by reason of the death of Christiana Ledet were taken into the hands of the king, just as was accustomed to be done up to now in a like case. Towards making which homage to the king, he is to distrain William and Alice by all lands and tenements in his bailiwick.
