Description

Folios: 140v-141. Bedfordshire. Inspeximus of certain documents.

Place or subject: 1. The record and process before the barons of the Exchequer of Edward I and enrolled among the memoranda of 33 Edw. I among the mainprises of Hilary term: William le Latymer [Latimer], son and heir and executor of the will of William le Latymer the elder, deceased, came before the barons and mainperned to pay to the king all the debts which the deceased owed to the king on the day on he died. And he found mainpernors for this, namely Hugh Wake, knight of Northamptonshire, Lawrence de Hamelden of Somerset and Norfolk, Thomas de Boulton of Yorkshire, Roger de Mildnehowe of Bedfordshire, and John de Watton of Cambridgeshire, who, present in court, granted that they are the mainpernors for those debts, together with William in this form. And, by this mainprise, it is granted that all the goods and chattels of the deceased, which are taken into the king's hands for those debts, are to be delivered to William, son of William and his co-executors towards making the execution of the will. 2. Letters patent of Edward II in the memoranda of 17 Edw. II among the recorda of Trinity term, dated at York on 1 Apr, 12 Edw. II. By a fine which William le Latymer made with him, the king granted licence to Thomas le Latymer Bochard to enfeoff William of a moiety of the his manor of Corby with appurtenances and the advowson of the church of the same manor, which are held of the king in chief. 2. To hold to Thomas and his heirs of the king and his heirs by the services due and accustomed forever. And licence for William to receive that moiety and advowson from Thomas and hold it to himself and his heirs of the king and his heirs by those services forever. By fine of 40s.
