Description

Folios: 124v-125v. Northamptonshire. Indenture.

First party: Ebulo Lestraunge [Lestrange] and Alice, his wife, countess of Lincoln [Alice de Lacy].

Second party: Ralph Basset of Drayton.

Place or subject: The manor of Buckeby [Long Buckby] with the appurtenances. Queen Isabella is to hand over that manor to Ralph this day and the Sunday next after the feast of the Ascension next to come. Saving to Ebulo and Alice their goods and chattels found in that manor. [Further details given]. A fine is to be levied. Ralph is to enfeoff them between this day and that Sunday in £50 of lands and tenements which bond tenants hold in bondage in the manor of Colston Basset, for which they are to pay £50 yearly, etc. To hold to Ebulo and Alice for the term of their lives, paying £60 to Ralph, his heirs and assigns at Michaelmas and Easter in equal portions. [Further details given]. Ralph pardons them all manner of debts which those bondsmen owe to them, and that the bondsmen will have the moiety of the crop of corn in the demesne lands of that manor for this year. [Further details given].
