Description

Folio: 121. Sixty charters or muniments about Shenston [Shenstone], Staffordshire, in one box, marked by the letter S. Final concord.

First party: Edmund, the king's brother [Edmund of Lancaster].

Second party: Robert, master of the hospital of Burton Lazars.

Place or subject: The advowson of the church of Spondon with appurtenances. Whereupon a plea of covenant was [summoned] between them in court, namely, that Edmund acknowledged the advowson to be the right of the same master and hospital and that he quitclaimed from him and his heirs to the master and his successors and to his hospital forever, saving to the chapel of Edmund and his heirs of Tuttebur' [Tutbury] two parts of the sheaves from tithes issuing from the lordship of Spoundon [Spondon], which the same chapel was accustomed to receive before this concord was made. And the master received Edmund and his heirs into every single prayer and benefit, which will be done from henceforth in his hospital forever. This concord was made by the king's writ.

County: [Derbyshire; Staffordshire].

Additional people: Made before Thomas de Weylaund, John de Lovetot, William de Brunton, Roger de Leycestre [Leicester] and Elias de Bekingham [Beckingham], justices.

Made in the king's court at Westminster.

The morrow of the feast of St John the Baptist, 14 Edw I.
