Description

Folio: 120v. Sixty charters or muniments about Shenston [Shenstone], Staffordshire, in one box, marked by the letter S. Grant.

First party: Henry, earl of Lancaster and Leicester, steward of England.

Second party: John Bullok.

Place or subject: Twelve acres by the perch of eighteen feet from the earl's waste in his chase of Nedewode [Needwood], adjoining to the earl's park of Hambur' [Hanbury]. To hold to John and his heirs in tail in severalty, freely, well and in peace. They can enclose and assart those twelve acres of waste and make their profit therefrom, paying yearly to the earl and his heirs, that is to say that John is to pay during his whole life 2s at the usual terms in the earl's manor of Marchinton [Marchington], and his heirs in tail are to pay after his death 6s a year at the same terms, namely 6d for each acre for all services. If this rent will be in arrears beyond a year, or if John dies without heirs in tail, then it will be lawful for the earl and his heirs to reseise and retain that land into his hands forever without any opposition.
