Description

Folio: 119. Sixty charters or muniments about Shenston [Shenstone], Staffordshire, in one box, marked by the letter S. Final concord.

First party: Ralph de Grendon and Joan, his wife.

Second party: John de Clynton [Clinton] of Coleshull [Coleshill].

Place or subject: The manor of Shenston [Shenstone] with appurtenances. Whereupon a plea of covenant was summoned between them in this court, namely that Ralph acknowledged this manor to be the right of John as that which John has of his gift, to hold to Ralph and Joan and their heirs in tail by each other of the chief lords of that fee by the services which pertain to that manor forever. If it happens that Ralph dies without heirs in tail, then after the deaths of Ralph and Joan, the manor will entirely remain to Robert, son of Ralph and his heirs in tail. If Robert dies without heirs in tail, then after his death the manor will remain to Joan, sister of Robert and her heirs in tail. If Joan the sister dies without heirs in tail, then it will remain to Thomas, son of John de Clynton [Clinton] of Coleshull [Coleshill] and his heirs, quit from other heirs of Ralph, Joan, Robert and Joan.
