Description

Folios: 114v-115. Sixty charters or muniments about Shenston [Shenstone], Staffordshire, in one box, marked by the letter S. Grant.

First party: Ralph the knight, lord of Grendon.

Second party: John de Clynton [Clinton], lord of Colleshull [Coleshill].

Place or subject: The whole of Ralph's manor of Schenestan [Shenstone] entirely without any reservation, with all and singular tenements within the manor and outside, together with homages, wards, reliefs, heriots, escheats, suits of court, and with the whole arable land, woods, meadows, parks, moors, pastures, ponds, fishponds, fisheries, mills, waters, ways, paths, commons, wastes, and with all lordship of both villeins and freeholders, with appurtenances. Together also with the whole third part of the dower which Isabel, his mother, holds in the same manor. To hold of the chief lord of that fee to John de Clinton and his heirs or assigns freely, quietly, entirely, well, in peace and by right of inheritance forever, paying and doing yearly to the chief lord of that fee the services due and accustomed, and to Ralph and his heirs one rose at the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist for all secular services, exactions and demands.
