Description

Folios: 114-114v. Sixty charters or muniments about Shenston [Shenstone], Staffordshire, in one box, marked by the letter S. Agreement.

First party: The abbot and convent of Osen' [Osney].

Second party: William Brai [Bray].

Place or subject: The abbot and convent granted to William and his heirs that they should have a chantry at their own costs in this chapel of Calewenulla, which he constructed by their grant. Saving to the same canons and their church of Senestan [Shenstone] all tithes of their lordship and all obventions issuing in the said chapel. Whoever will minister in the chapel will offer fealty to the canons and observe this faithfully. William de Bray, for his part, granted to the abbot and canons and their men of Stanhale [Stonnall] that they shall have a way in his wood of Boshay, concerning which there had been a dispute between them previously. As concerns all injuries and damages inflicted on each other, at Pentecost of the seventh year of the common interdict, they came to a settlement with each other. Anyone, who comes henceforth against this agreement, after three warnings, if he refuses to make amends, will give as a penalty one mark of silver.
