Second party: Edmund, the king's brother [Edmund of Lancaster].
Place or subject: Whereas Edmund, the king's brother holds the castle and honor of Tuttebyr' [Tutbury] and the honor of Derby, and all the lands and tenements of those honors by the grant of Robert de Ferrers, as fully and freely as Robert ever held them, and certain debts are to be exacted from him at the exchequer by reason of the debts in which Robert was bound to the king and his ancestors, the king has granted that his brother and his heirs in tail are to be forever quit of all debts, fines, amercements, accounts, reckonings and all kinds of arrears which are to be exacted or could be exacted from him by reason of the debts of Robert and his ancestors. Saving to his brother and his heirs the king's recovery against Robert and his heirs of other lands and tenements which he holds in his hands, and also of that castle, honors, lands and tenements, if it happens that they come into the hands of the same Robert or his heirs on any occasion.
