Description

Folio: 79v. Derbyshire. Quitclaim.

First party: William, son of Robert de Meleborn [Melbourne].

Second party: Edmund, son of Henry III [Edmund of Lancaster].

Place or subject: The whole of William's right and claim in 3s of yearly rent which he used to receive in the vills of Meleborn [Melbourne] and Neuton [King's Newton] at the two terms of the year, namely a moiety at the Annunciation of St Mary and the other moiety at Michaelmas from the following tenements, which is to say from Robert son of William for one toft and three acres of land in Melbourne, 14d; from John, brother of the same Robert, for one toft and one croft in King's Newton, 12d; and from John, son of William Corboylle, for one toft in King's Newton, 10d. To hold this rent with reliefs and escheats and all other appurtenances to Edmund and his heirs or assigns freely, quietly, peacefully and entirely in fee and inheritance forever. For this quitclaim Edmund gave William 40s sterling.
