First party: Henry, earl of Lancaster and Leicester, steward of England.
Second party: Peter le Syneker of Derby, chaplain.
Place or subject: Licence for Peter to give and grant to the religious men, the abbot and convent of Derleye [Darley], two messuages, fifty-four acres of land and two acres of meadow with appurtenances in Chaddesden, Derbyshire, which are held of the earl in chief. To hold to the abbot and convent and their successors forever of the earl and his heirs by the services previously due and accustomed. For this licence the abbot and convent granted to the earl and his heirs half a mark sterling in the name of relief after the death of any abbot of Darley, whenever the abbey happens to vacant by death or cession of the abbot or by any other way, to be received both from those tenements and also from the tenements of the same abbot and convent in Normanton by Derby. And towards making the payment of that relief in this form, the abbot and convent bound all their tenements to the distraint of the earl, his heirs and bailiffs.
