Description

Folio: 71. Nottinghamshire. Grant.

First party: Garner de Naples, prior of the Knights Hospitaller in England.

Second party: John, constable of Chester.

Place or subject: With the common counsel and assent of the brothers of his chapter, Garner has granted John and his heirs the whole vill of Knesale [Kneesall] with appurtenances, which Garner has by John's gift. To hold of the prior's house in inheritance, freely, quietly and honourably, paying every single year for this to the house two marks of silver, a moiety at Easter and a moiety at Michaelmas for all service, in such a way that in his obit and that of his heirs, similarly a third part of his whole substance, which they will have in the vill of Kneshale [Kneesall], will remain for the salvation of his soul to the prior's house.
