Place or subject: Although it was decreed by the common council of the realm that it will not be lawful for religious men or others to enter the fee of another so that property passes at mortmain without the king's licence, or that of the chief lord of which that property is immediately held, nevertheless, by a fine which William de Ichynton made with the king, the king granted to him and gave him licence that he might give and assign one messuage, one toft, one and a half yardlands, two acres of meadow and four marks of rent with appurtenances in Overe Etyndon [Ettington] and Neubald [Newbold on Stour] to a certain chaplain who will celebrate divine services every single day in the chapel of St Mary of Overe Etyndon for the soul of William and the souls of his ancestors and of all the faithful departed. To hold to that chaplain and his successors as chaplains who will celebrate divine services every single day in that chapel for those souls forever, and to the same chaplain that he can receive the premises from William and hold them to his and his succesors forever.
