Description

Folio: 64. Warwickshire. Licence.

First party: Edward II.

Second party: The prior and convent of Kenilworth.

Place or subject: Because the king has heard by an inquisition which he caused to be made by the sheriff of Warrewyk [Warwickshire] that it is not to the damage or prejudice of the king or of others if the king grants to his kinsman Thomas, earl of Lancaster, that he might give and assign (in exchange for one cartload of wood, which the prior and convent of Kenilworth and their predecessors were accustomed to receive in the earl's wood of Kenilworth every single day, time out of mind, and which the prior and convent remitted and quitclaimed to the earl and his heirs forever), to the prior and convent fifteen acres of wood with appurtenances in that wood, to hold to the prior and convent and their successors in severalty forever, the king has granted licence that he can give and assign to the prior and convent those fifteen acres of wood. To hold to the prior and convent and their successors forever in severalty in exchange for that cartload of wood.
