Folio: 45v. Leicestershire. Petition.
First party: Amaury, count of Montfort and earl of Leicester.
Second party: Henry III.
Place or subject: Amaury has many times entreated King Henry III humbly and devoutly that the king would return to him his land and right which he has and ought to have in England, which his father of good memory held of the king and was holding while he died, peacefully and quietly. But up to now the king has not wanted to do so, so Amaury entreats the king to do so on this occasion. Amaury sends over Simon, his brother, who holds nothing of the king of France, to whom, if the king hands it over, Amaury would be bound etc.
