Description

Folio: 38. Lincolnshire. Final concord.

First party: William de Monte Acuto [Montagu], earl of Salisbury.

Second party: John, duke of Lancaster [John of Gaunt], and Blanche his wife.

Place or subject: The manors of Aumbresbury [Amesbury] and Wynterbourn [Winterbourne] with appurtenances, Wiltshire, the manor of Caneford [Canford], Dorset, and the manors of Henstrigge [Henstridge] and Cherleton [Charlton Horethorne] with appurtenances, Somerset. Whereupon a plea of covenant was summoned between them in the same court. Namely, that the duke and Blanche acknowledged these manors to be the right of the earl. And those they remitted and quitclaimed from the duke and Blanche and Blanche's heirs to the earl and his heirs forever. For this fine and concord the earl gave to the duke and Blanche £1,000 sterling.
