Description

Folio: 12v. Derby; Ferrers. Grant.

First party: Robert de Ferrers, earl of Derby.

Second party: Nicholas de Rolvestone [Rolleston] of Bartone [Barton] (for his homage and service).

Place or subject: Six acres of land in the wood of Bartone [Barton] with the wood growing thereupon, lying in le Sutehules between the land of Nicholas and Bikeresdale. To hold of the earl and his heirs to Nicholas and his heirs or assigns or to whoever he wishes to give, sell or bequeath them, excepting religious men and Jews, freely, quietly, well and in peace, with all liberties and easements in meadows, pastures, ways, paths, waters and all other places pertaining to that land, with housebote and haybote in the ward of Bartone [Barton], paying for this yearly to the earl and his heirs 2s at the two terms of the year, namely 12d at the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary and 12d at Michaelmas for all service, custom, secular exaction and demand, saving to the earl and his heirs two appearances at the two great courts of Bartone [Barton] per annum.
