Description

Folios: 10-10v. Derby; Ferrers. Grant.

First party: William, earl of Ferrers, son of William, earl of Ferrers.

Second party: Henry son of Walkelin.

Place or subject: The whole lands which the earl's father gave to Henry in Passenham, namely a moiety of the vill of Passenham with appurtenances, for his homage and service, for the service of half a knight, as freely and quietly as the charter of the earl's father bears witness. In addition, the earl grants Henry and his heirs the whole land which the earl's father retained in his hands in Passenham, with all appurtenances and liberties pertaining to the same land, doing a third part of one knight's fee for all service pertaining to the earl and his heirs, saving the service and tenement of Henry de Piro and his heirs, which the earl retains in his hands.
