Description

Folio: 7v. Derby; Ferrers. Grant.

First party: William de Ferrers, earl of Derby.

Second party: Thomas Oweyn of Mercinton [Marchington].

Place or subject: The earl's mill of Radeford with appurtenances and with suit from all assarts that have been assarted and are to be assarted in the ward of Mercinton [Marchington], saving to the earl and his heirs his fishpond with the fish at Radeford. In addition, the earl granted to Thomas and his heirs that they are to have reasonable estover in his forest of Nedwode [Needwood], namely in the common of Marchington, by view of his foresters to be taken to maintain the mill. To hold to Thomas and his heirs freely and quietly paying for this yearly to the earl and his heirs 60s at the two terms of the year, namely 30s at Michaelmas and 30s at the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary for all things, saving foreign service.
