Folios: 4v-5. Derby; Ferrers. Inspeximus of a charter of Robert de Punchardun to William, his son.
First party: William de Ferrers, earl of Derby.
Second party: [unspecified].
Place or subject: Robert de Punchardun granted to William de Punchardun, his son, for his homage and service his mills, which he had in the vill of Russyndene [Rushden] from the gift of William de Ferrers, earl of Derby, with the whole suit and all other things pertaining to the said mills. To hold to the same William and his heirs in tail of the said earl and his heirs doing to the same earl and his heirs the fortieth part of one knight's fee, just as the charter of the said earl bears witness. And if it happens the said William to die without heirs in tail before Robert's death, the same mills are to revert to the said Robert and his heirs without any opposition. And after Robert's death the said William and his heirs in tail are to do homage and the said service of a fortieth part of one knight's fee to the said earl and his heirs forever.
