Captured ship: Ryk en Jouwer (master Stoffel Symons).

History: a Dutch vessel, bound from the Texel to Nantes, laden with hemp, mats, iron; taken on 31 December 1779 by HMS Valiant (Samuel Cranston Goodall commanding) and brought into Portsmouth.

Appellant: The master.

Respondent: The captor.
