Description

Folios 364-367. Copy of a letter from d'Avaux to the French King reporting that the Swedish King was satisfied with the reasons ha gave for refusing to make there the same declarations made at The Hague and to justify the negotiations taking place there. Notes Oxenstirn's [Count Oxenstierna] strong interest in Prince Jacques Sobieski, assuming still that he is not attached to the House of Austria and that he wishes only to rely on the King of Sweden, and his own remonstrations in this regard. Refers to the business of the Cardinal Radzyofsky [Primate of Poland Michal Stefan Radziejowski?] in Sweden, which will apparently not be done before the election of the King of Poland, this being to the French King's advantage as if it had been it would not be to the satisfaction of the Cardinal; the Swedish King pays none of these kinds of debts. Indicates that there is a Treaty ready to be signed between the King of Denmark and the Elector [Frederick III] of Brandenburg.
