Folios 360-363. Copy of a letter from the King of France to d'Avaux referring to the Imperial ministers continuing to seek to impose restrictions on their acceptance of the Swedish King's mediation, which restrictions the latter has refused. Refers to a memorandum received from Holland, regarding how d'Avaux has spoken in Sweden and how this is being used to convince that current negotiations with the States General are not sincere. The French King considers this dangerous, all the more so as d'Avaux's words, as reported to the King, are being twisted into entirely contrary meanings to those intended; he is certain d'Avaux would never have expressed himself as to the location for the conferences in the manner reported in the memorandum. [Folios 362-363] Extract of the minutes of the Stockholm Chancelry of 23 September 1696 and 3 October 1696, including discussions between d'Avaux and Oxenstirn [Count Bengt Gabrielsson Oxenstierna] regarding the status of Allied acceptance of the Swedish King's mediation, and d'Avaux's instructions for peace negotiations.
