Description

Folios 335-336. Copy of a letter from Meyercron [Meyercron; Henning M. (1645-1707); -; Danish ambassador in Paris 1674 1679 and 1685-1706] to Jessen [Jessen; Thomas Balthazar von (1648-1731); Danish statesman and diplomat] advising caution as to the progress of peace negotiations in light of the ongoing difficulties raised by the Imperial Court. There are people who consider that once France is freed from the war in Italy it could stiffen its resolve for war and make peace in the end without sacrificing all that has been offered by Callieres [François de Callières, special envoy of France]. It is said that the conditions by which the Imperial Court seeks to restrict Sweden's mediation render it impractical. There are reports that the other Allies and the Imperial Court are reproaching each other. Reference to Bonrepos' [Bonrepaus; François d'Usson de (1650-1719); French diplomat] travel to Copenhagen.
