Folios 304-306. Copy of a letter from the King of France to d'Avaux [Jean-Antoine de Mesmes, called d'Avaux (1640-1709)?]. Since his last letter he has learned that Pensionary Heinsius had publicly declared to the assembly of Allied Ministers at The Hague what was being discussed in secret between Callieres [François de Callières, special envoy of France] and Messrs Borel and Dijckveldt, that the latter two were authorised by their masters to continue these conferences and that the French King had empowered Callieres to act in this capacity as his Envoy Extraordinaire, such that the discussions are now open. The Allied Ministers were invited to seek powers from their masters to participate and that of Sweden to act as mediator. The French King believes the Swedish King will ask Lilienrodt [Niels, Baron of Lilliënrot, Swedish diplomat] to act in this capacity and instruct him accordingly. If discussions continue at length, the French King is indifferent to Senator Bonde (who d'Avaux had written was destined to be lead mediator) being joined to Lilienrodt's team.
