The Panel was set up in 1943 to advise the Director of Scientific Research on research into chemical problems facing the Navy. Panel sub-groups investigated gases and air conditioning, fuels and propellants, paints, fire-proofing and fire prevention, metallurgy, and advisory services and miscellanea.
