Folios 310-311: James Montagu, HMS Montagu, Spithead. Reports that his ship has been left without large numbers of men by orders from Vice Admiral Lord Hood. Encloses a copy of the order, and the state and condition report for his ship. Also reports that Mr Orton, Second Lieutenant, has been charged with theft on shore, but refuses to attend his trial. He cannot possibly clear his name, so Captain Montagu requests appointment of a replacement.
Folio 312: enclosure with folios 310-311: state and condition report dated 23 May 1793 for HMS Montagu, Captain James Montagu,
Folio 313: enclosure with folios 310-311: copy orders dated 22 May 1793 issued by Vice Admiral Samuel Lord Hood, Commander in Chief, to Captain James Montagu, HMS Montagu, taking a number of men from HMS Montagu, and leaving the ship behind. HMS Montagu should follow as soon as her complement is restored. When they reach The Lizard, he should open the sealed packet containing further orders.
