Folios 624-626: Phipps Hornby, HMS Stag, Portsmouth Harbour.
Folio 624: Refers to the enclosed petition concerning Alexander Baird who he recommends as highly deserving.
Folios 625-626: attachment to folio 624. Alexander Baird, armourer, HMS Stag, Portsmouth Harbour, 4 December 1814 writes that having served since May 1808 in HMS Barracouta he was sent on shore at the Cape of Good Hope to make an iron crotch for the main boom. He was left behind when the ship sailed the next morning so went on board HMS Raisonable under Captain Josias Rowley, and several other ships, rejoining HMS Barracouta about three months later. He was marked in the ship's book as Run and has received no pay for the period. Asks for the R to be removed from his name.
