Folio 611: Refers to a letter from the Admiralty dated 23 November 1814 with an enclosed copy of a letter [not present] from Admiral Sir Manley Dixon dated 18 September 1814 concerning the allocation of prize money for the capture of the Essex where he claims that he directed the action. Refers to the attached extract of a private letter he wrote to Admiral Dixon.
Folio 612: James Hillyar writes to Admiral Dixon about whether he is correct to claim the a full flag proportion of prize money from the capture of the Essex and states that he, Hillyar, was acting directly under Admiralty orders.
