Folios 601-602: John Hancock, HMS Liffey, Spithead.
Responding to a letter dated 5 December 1814 in which he is asked to state whether he brought the transports mentioned by Major General Glasgow and, if not, why he left them. He states that he brought every transport that was ready but the men belonging to the transports who had been serving in the Lakes had not arrived at Quebec. He remained in the St Lawrence for as long as he felt justified within his orders and the season of the year.
