Folios 579-580: John Hancock, HMS Liffey, Spithead.
Refers to enclosed letter which were received before he sailed from Quebec. He had incurred considerable expense in entertaining Major General Kempt on board and asks to be paid the usual allowances.
Folio 581: enclosure with folios 579-580. Major General George Glasgow directs Hancock to take Major General Kempt on board for a passage to England as he is carrying important despatches.
Folio 582: enclosure with folios 579-580. George Prevost, Commander of the Forces, Headquarters, Montreal, 6 November 1814 writes that in the absence of Major General Kempt he has passed despatches to Simon McGillidray who will carry them on board HMS Liffey.
