Description

Folios 344-345: Henry Stuart, Woolwich. Reports that John Smith absented himself without leave, Lean McKeough and Michael Galvin from the dockyard when on duty, all three man received 3 packs on board HMS Chiffon, but were impressed on board HMS Thunderer, so did not put R against their names but noted where they were in the Muster book.

Folios 346-347: enclosure in folios 344-345. Letter dated 23 April 1803 from Regulating Captain Thomas Richbell. John Smith and John Stack were impressed in London on 30th March by Lieutenant Robertson, Michael Galvin 31st March by Lieutenant Miller and Daniel McKeough on 1st April by Lieutenant Denham and were all sent to the Nore with a note of the ship's names they claimed to belong to.

Folios 348-349: enclosure in folios 344-345. Letter dated 18 April 1803 from John Smith, Daniel McKeough and Michael Galvin, both of HMS Chiffon and John Slack of HMS Virginie all on board HMS Thunderer. We belonging to HMS Chiffon and HMS Virginie, being on shore on 30th March were preyed upon by the Gang and carried on board HMS Enterprise and detained until 2nd April.
