Folio 209. Letter dated [March 29 new style] at Paris from Lord Portland to the King. Thanks the King for letting him know that his daughter was out of danger, and apologises for his error in sending a letter intended for the King to the Prince of Vaudemont and vice versa. Hopes the King will not mind excusing him for the length of time it will take him to visit the Prince of Vaudemont as he passes through Champagne 30 miles away. Encloses a letter from Monsieur Schonenberg for the King and another from Monsieur Stanhop for him [Portland], from which the King will see that they write very differently.
