Folios 135-143. Letter dated [March 13 new style] at Paris from Lord Portland to the King. He has made his entry and Mr Prior will provide an account of the ceremonial for the use of future successors. Describes various disputes of protocol that arose at the hotel of ambassadors, and of which he complained to Messers de Pomponne and Torcy. While he feared further difficulties at his audience the next day, it passed off without a hitch as far as he could tell. He was well received by the French King, who renewed and strengthened his assurances and representations with respect to King William and no one seem to be aware of what had happened the night before. He is to see the princes and princesses of blood in the coming days. Monsieur de Torcy tells him that orders were given to release the 11 French officers, prisoners, and the 12[th] who is condemned to the galleys.
