Description

Folios 175-177. Extracts from various letters out of Germany and Flanders, relating to military operations, with remarks thereon by the Prince of Waldeck. Refers to letters: from Adrianople dated 3 October [See SP 8/10 f.76] on the waning hopes of peace with the Turks; from van Heemskerck from Vienna dated 25 October relating to military matters; from van Smettau (the envoy of the Elector of Brandenburg) dated 5 November regarding a new treaty with the Spanish; Stadtholder van Konings Egk dated 2 November regarding the Hessian troops; from Count Tserclaes de Tilly dated 2 November regarding the troops of Field Marshall Flemming in Liege; the Count of Solms from Mechelen dated 1-5 November regarding provisions for horses and troops, and other military matters.
