Folios 114-119. Memorandum as to points to be considered and decisions to be taken in the greatest good of the common cause of the war in Italy. Talks of the origins of the war being related to French attempts to foil Allied plans, real or not, to invade from the Dauphine. The goal of such a war must be to penetrate into France, noting the lessons learned from the miserable history of peace, treaties and truces, that these are feeble means for preventing the imminent ruin of Europe. With this in mind, approaches to the war are discussed, including questions of whether to rescue places besieged by the enemy and whether to recover places usurped. Considerations of whether to purely take the defensive, in which case it would be better for Piedmont and Milan that the war was ended; Accordingly, if the war is to be pursued, should it be on an offensive footing to the benefit of these two states and the Allies (the latter being able to seek to open up an entry into France). Discussion of the composition and maintenance of the army necessary for such an undertaking.
