Folios 107-108. Project for entering France by way of Dauphiné; 8,000 men should do this in three divisions for greater diligence and surprise. The first would head towards Embrun by way of Guillestre or St Andre crossing the Durance at the Pont de l'Estan, the second towards Embrun by way of the mountain of Crevoux crossing the Durance at the Pont de Levesi, and the third towards Embrun by way of Orres and Baratier crossing the Durance at the Pont de la Clapiere. Lists considerations regarding subsistence (the land in the area being very fertile in grains), how to conserve the place once taken, and avenues for retreat. Having seized Embrun they would take the land between Embrun and Briancon; if they are unable to take Briancon itself they should take Queyras. Notes the value of such an exercise would be (1) It would prevent the co-ordination of any rescue that Monsieur Gattina [Catinat?] might have in mind; (2) Via Embrun they can attract all the malcontents of the Dauphine [i.e. Huguenots]; (3) the whole valley of [Hure?] and Coni [Cuneo] keeping the routes clear to Nice; (4) they will subsist off of enemy land, having otherwise had to subsist in Piedmont.
