Description

Folio 258. An account of the King's Revenues in Scotland, with 'charges' totalling £60,255 11s 1d, and 'discharges'. Mentions: Orkeny and Zetland rents; customs and foreign excise; tack duty of the Post Office; Sir Patrick Murray [?of Ochtertyre's] former revenues; Sir Thomas Moncreiff [Moncrief]; revenues of the Muster-master Sir Alexander Bruce; additional poll money and excise. Discharges include: fies and pensions; repairs to castles and garrisons; the Mint; private intelligence; support of the magazine. Discharges of the Supply and Excise: coal and candle; Holyroodhouse; Lords of Session; Cannon and artillery. Out of Bishop's rents: Alexander [?Cairncross] late Archbishop of Glasgow; Lord Polwarth; Duncan Forbes of Culloden; and Walter Burnie, blindminster.
