Folios 150-154. Prince Louis of Baden to the King, dated at the camp of Hagenbach. He has received the King's letter of 10 September, understands his intentions and will obey them as far as possible, with respect to the 'amusement' of Monsieur de Lorge as in all other commandments. Further to his previous letter of 15 September, the diversion arose quite naturally and appears to be occupying many of the enemy army. He has placed the country he passed through under contributions, and is destroying it as much as he can to prevent the enemy from drawing any subsistence from it. Elsewhere all of Alsace is emptied of all enemy troops - while at the centre of all this, he is unable to reap the full advantage of the situation for lack of sufficient forces and a thousand other things that are lacking. He will nevertheless do all that is in his power to do the most harm and advance the common cause. The troops of Saxony are still on the Neckar and do not want to participate in the abundance they find themselves in, however as this holds him back he has sent ambassadors to them to ask them to come back.
