Folios 143-147. Prince Louis of Baden to the King, dated at the camp of Durlach. Designs to deceive/distract the enemy. Complains of his desertion by the army of the Elector of Saxony, and his efforts to satisfy him, all of which were insufficient. It took a letter from the Elector before the poor Comte de Rais ceded to the faction of Monsieur de Shoninc [Schoning?]. His boat bridge having arrived, he could not resist making an attempt on the Rhine around Hagenbach, to at least attract the enemy army in the Upper Alsace and save Rheinfels. [P.S. troops under his and Count Charles de Furstenberg took the step and established a post with several thousand men beyond the Rhine. He is leaving now to go there, and will update the King immediately once he has seen the situation and the countenance of the enemy.]
