Folios 52-53. A letter [from Lord Godolphin to King William III] advising that additional revenues of £9,000 will be reserved for the King's 'particular commands', but advises that other orders to raise funds will be no easy matter and that 'wishing will not make it so'. Funds for the army and navy will 'infallibly be short', and those for civil government are 'very near standing still'. The 'proposal for copper farthings not being practicable', Mr [?Edward] Russell requests that the funds from that source might now be had from the woods of the Forest of Dean, and that the King will write to the Queen [Mary II] about it. She has been informed of a plan to transport French protestants from Holland [Netherlands] to Switzerland costing £2,000, which Lord Galway [Henri de Massue, 2nd Marquis de Ruvigny] raised.
