Folio 46. A letter from the Earl of Tweeddale [to King William III], dated at Edinburgh, giving news of measures taken by the [Scottish] parliament. Mentions: the Act of supply, additional excise revenue and poll money [tax]; an act for levying 3,000 foot; an act for enjoining the Oath of Allegiance; and an act for prohibiting correspondence with France. Correspondence with disaffected parties [Jacobites] reveals plans for a landing on the west coast [of Scotland], and although the authorities are 'not very apprehensive of it', the six western shires have been require to model themselves into companies, to march to that country, and encamp there. Arrests have been ordered. Tweeddale also express gratitude for the renewal of the tack [lease] of Fumfermling [Dunfermline, Fife].
