The Admiralty Centre for Scientific Information and Liaison was originally formed in 1947 with Board of Admiralty approval, based on the Admiralty Technical Records Section, which had been in existence since 1929.
Its main function was to receive copies of all scientific and technical reports and research and development work of Naval interest and particularly those issued by Admiralty departments and establishments, and to disseminate the information contained in the reports to all interested Admiralty departments and establishments.
