Information of general interest to Admiralty headquarters was circulated by means of office 'acquaints' for instructions of a transitory nature, and by office memoranda for instructions of a permanent or semi-permanent nature. Office acquaints were abolished in 1944 when all such information was circulated by office memoranda.
