Folios 286-287. Letter dated at Brussels from [?] to the King. The writer has communicated to Colonel Dopft and the commanding officers the orders concerning Charleroi received from the King at Malines. He will press the Elector and the Prince of Vaudemont to make the regiments march as soon as possible to their destined places (Diksmuide and Nieuwpoort). The Earl of Athlone [Godert van Reede, Lord of Ginkel] has written from Waterloo that since three o'clock the previous day there has been no firing around Charleroi, they had sent a party to the area to learn if the enemy was retreating or changing its batteries. they hope to attack the enemy's batteries should the enemy withdraw from Charleroi. It is sometime since he has seen Count de Solms and does not know if the Count still intends to leave the cavalry.
