Description

Folios 204-207. Journal of the events which have taken place in the Low Countries with the allied forces. These include: the arrival of six battalions of English together with two cavalry regiments of the Prince of Nassau and Wurtemburg; the fall of Kaisersworth following a fire in the great tower of the castle; the taking of the Castle of Modave by the Marquis of Bouffleur as rescue was being sought from Liege; the arrival of the Saxe Gotha Regiment; proposed troop movements; the Prince of Waldeck's visit to Brussels to speak with the Marquis of Gastanaga inter alia about the free movement of baggages and other necessities for the army, taxes, provisions, waggons; the destruction of the fort and bridge in front of Bonn, and bombardment of the same by the Elector of Brandenburg; arrangements for forage; communications between the Council of State, Monsieur can der Cloese, and the Prince of Waldeck regarding waggons ordered by the latter, and other requirements; officers in North Holland advising that due to lack of payment their men were on the point of mutiny. Some propositions for the future movements of the troops are given, together with considerations for a siege or an attack on France. It is judged necessary to hold themselves ready in all locations, await the approach of the Elector of Brandenburg and the beginning of the siege in Mayence [Mainz] before then approaching with the State army that of Marshal d'Humieres and fortifying the corps of the Prince of Vaudemont..
