Folios 201-202. Letter from Lord Sydney to the King that in the event of Lord Commissioner Trevor's death, the King 'will have some difficulty to find a Speaker that has honesty, ability and good affection'. Sydney, Lord Nottingham and Lord Rochester having considered possible replacements concluded that Sir Christopher Musgrave would be the most suitable. Although Sydney had nothing to say against him he thought Musgrave's behaviour since the King came to the throne could not be excused, Nottingham and Rochester said a great deal for him. Sydney also raises the matter of who should hold the Great Seal, Nottingham, Rochester and he being of the opinion it would be better for the King's service to have it in the hands of one man.
